There’s something so special about bringing the luxury of a spa into your very own home. Whether you’re currently avoiding the salon or just want a special at-home treat, we love Suzanne’s DIY mani-pedi.
For the ultimate in at-home au-naturale beauty, follow these steps to baby-smooth skin that’s gorgeously ready for the summer. And you can feel good knowing that this green beauty routine is luxurious, effective, and good for you!
Start by soaking! We love filling a small basin with warm water and just a few drops of Botanical C Body Oil to moisturize and soften skin. For an added boost, add a bit of fresh lemon juice, which may help to naturally brighten your nails (and adds an invigorating citrus aroma). Close your eyes and meditate, put on your favorite song, or listen to a great podcast while you soak for 5 minutes.
After you’ve finished soaking, take a scoop of Botanical C Body Polish and use it to exfoliate dead skin and rough spots, especially on areas like heels and cuticles. The aloe and shea hydrate, while Vitamin C Ester and organic sugar crystals exfoliate and give life to dull skin. Your skin will feel smooth and moisturized, without the tenderness you can sometimes get from a pumice stone or other harsh exfoliating tool.
Seal in hydration by massaging legs and feet with Botanical C Body Oil while the skin is still damp for an added dose of shea butter oil and Vitamin C Ester, plus papaya enzymes. It’s the perfect moisturizer for skin in need of a radiance boost, and leaves you feeling soft, smooth, and comfortable.
Gently wipe your nails with a wet cloth to remove any residue, which might keep nail polish from setting should you choose to use it. Then, file and shape the nails using your favorite file. We recommend waiting to file nails when they are dry and only filing in one direction rather than back and forth, which can cause tearing and peeling. Not the glamorous look you’re going for!
Once nails are shaped, you may choose to apply a coat of your favorite non-toxic nail polish. Suzanne prefers a natural look and hasn’t worn polish since the birth of her children, but you can decide what looks and feels best for you. If you do choose to wear polish, be sure to take some time between color changes to take a closer look at your nails, since their condition can provide clues to your overall health. Any abnormal growth or coloring may be worth discussing with your doctor.
If you choose to wear nail polish, wait until your polish is fully dry and the coat with one final layer of Botanical C Body Oil for a delightfully luxe, skin-softening experience.
Wear cotton socks on well-moisturized feet for the evening or even overnight for a super conditioning treatment.
Whether you choose to sport tickled-pink toes or au naturale nails, a great at-home mani-pedi can go a long way toward making you feel beautiful, relaxed, and well taken care of. Treat yourself and see how gorgeous a little bit of at-home spa time can be!
