On one night of the year, even the most conscientious green beauties forget their healthy skin regimens and break out the paint, powder, and glitter — all in the name of Halloween fun.
Yet, the most frightful day of the year may also be the hardest on our complexions.
Unlike regular make-up, Halloween make-up (also stage make-up or costume make-up) is heavy in texture and pigment – and is usually oil-based. When it’s time to take it off, it can be quite the nightmare and your regular cleansing routine might not cut it.
To keep you from waking up with irritated or blemished skin on November 1, here’s an amped-up cleansing routine that is powerful enough to cut through layers of heavy make-up (but is still kind to our skin).
How to Remove Halloween Makeup
- Start with an oil-based cleanser like Skin Savior Balm or Vitamin B Cleansing Oil. This will help dissolve the oils that comprise heavy make-up without stripping your skin. Using clean, dry hands, apply the product to dry face and massage gently for 1-2 minutes. Remove the oil or balm using a warm, damp washcloth. If needed, rinse the cloth and wipe again using the clean side of the cloth.
- Next, follow with a gentle cleanser like Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser and pair it with a Cleansing Sponge. A foaming cleanser will help to remove any remaining residue and deeply purify the skin. The Cleansing Sponge helps to remove make-up from those hard-to-reach places, like around the eyes, nose, and jawline.
- Lastly, while skin is still damp, apply a soothing moisturizer to nourish and rehydrate your skin.
So go ahead and enjoy your “ghouls” night out. With this easy routine, removing Halloween makeup is a treat!
