April showers bring May flowers, but did you know that May flowers offer even more beautiful benefits for your skin?
We love our plant-powered skincare products for so many reasons, especially the ways they harness gorgeous ingredients found in nature to promote radiant, healthy-looking skin. And some of the most beneficial ingredients for beautiful skin come from the most beautiful plants — flowers!
It’s hard to narrow it down with such a bounty of gifts from nature, but here are three of our favorites:
Sunflower Seed Oil
Vincent Van Gogh may be the most famous lover of sunflowers, but he’s far from the only one to recognize their beauty — these vibrant, towering flowers delight anyone fortunate enough to bask in their radiance.
Did you know that sunflowers are what’s known as “heliotropic”? That means they turn their flowers to follow the movement of the sun across the sky.
We love the idea of these statuesque flowers feeling that warm sun on their faces, just like we might — with a proper SPF of course!
But what we love most about sunflowers is their oil, which is rich in Vitamin E, contains hydrating properties to support moisture retention, and is lightweight and easily absorbed into the skin.

Cultivated high in the Swiss Alps (brrr!), these clusters of pinkish-red, bell-shaped flowers flourish, perfectly adapted to combat cold, dehydration, and harsh sun exposure. Despite extreme conditions, they bloom beautifully every spring, bringing a burst of color and a lovely, light scent to the frozen mountaintops.
In addition to being a spot of beauty in a harsh environment, Alpine Rose contains a wealth of flavonoids, antioxidants, and unique plant compounds that help support skin’s resistance to environmental stressors.

Grown primarily in Oregon and California, meadowfoam is a dense, low-growing plant absolutely covered in brilliantly white flowers. From a distance, a field of meadowfoam can look like flowing drifts of snow — or, well, foam — but with a decidedly fresh, inviting appearance up close.
Meadowfoam flowers are especially loved for their seed oil, which we love because of their superb antioxidant and skin-softening properties. Meadowfoam oil has a very similar composition to sebum — aka your natural skin oils — which helps it to be absorbed into the skin and helps to keep skin feeling nourished and balanced.
It’s also one of the most stable oils due to its high antioxidant content, which means any product containing meadowfoam oil is supported against oxidation and may allow your products to last longer. (And a longer shelf life means less waste. Hooray!)
Would your routine benefit from some long-lasting, antioxidant-rich products?
